How do your boots fit compared to other brands?

Our shoes and boots are all sold in European sizes. Our sizing is slightly smaller than other leather boot brands such as Red Wing, Chippewa and Wolverine. You can read a full comparison of our sizing to other brands in our size guide

Can you provide sizing help before I order? 

Yes. If you're not sure which size to order, please contact nick@gibsonshoes.com (include your Brannock measurements if possible) and we can advise you about which size will give you the best fit.

Do all your shoes/boots fit the same?

Currently, all of our boots (Chelsea Boots, Buckle & Side Zip Boots and Double Monk Strap Boots) use the Jeffrey last. This means that the fit is the same on all of our boots.

Please note that our Buckle & Side Zip and Double Monk Strap boots use slightly thicker leather than our Chelsea Boots, which means they will feel slightly stiffer out of the box and may take several weeks to fully break in.


Why are your photos taken outside?

We don't believe in perfect studio lighting or extensive Photoshop correction, so we take all of our product photos outdoors in a real environment using boots that have been worn for at least one week of regular use.

This gives you a more accurate picture of how your boots will look after you take them out of the box and start to wear them, instead of the flawless (and all too often, extensively Photoshopped) product photos on other websites.

Creases, scratches and all, we want to show you how your boots will look once they're on your feet, not how they look in a perfectly lit studio. 


How are your boots constructed?

All of our shoes and boots are made using traditional Blake construction, allowing them to be resoled at any shoe repair shop with a Blake stitching machine.  

My favorite color/sole type isn't pictured. Can you send me a photo before I order?

Because we offer made to order shoes with such a large range of style options, we can't picture every leather/suede/sole/elastic combination on our website. If you are interested in a certain style that isn't pictured, please contact us and we may be able to provide specific photos.


Why do I need to wait several weeks for my boots?

We make all of our boots by hand after you place your order. Because our team is small and we use traditional handmade shoemaking methods, it takes two to four weeks for us to complete most orders.

If we are under particularly heavy demand, you will receive an email notifying you of the completion date for your order.


How much does shipping cost?

We ship worldwide for free using Air Mail. No matter where you live, you don't need to pay for shipping. DHL, FedEx and other express delivery services are available for an additional fee. Read our full shipping policy

Can I track my order online?

Yes. After your order is shipped, you will receive a tracking code via email and can track its progress as it is shipped and delivered.

What if my order doesn't arrive?

We guarantee your order from its original postage in Vietnam until it reaches the United States, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and all EU member states. If your order is lost in the mail before it reaches your country, we will replace it free of charge. 

Please note that the shipping times provided on our website are estimates only based on standard Air Mail and Express Mail delivery times. We are not responsible if your order takes longer to arrive due to remote location or slow delivery once it reaches your country. 

We are not responsible for orders held within your country due to customs fees or import taxes. If your country imposes taxes on imported footwear, we highly recommend you research any applicable tariff rates before you order to avoid unexpected extra costs. 

Do you offer DHL, FedEx, TNT or other courier shipping options?

Right now, we only offer shipping via Express Mail and Standard Air Mail. We are actively expanding our shipping options and will soon be able to provide faster delivery using services like DHL, FedEx, TNT and other logistics providers. 


I don't like my shoes/boots. Can I return them?

Since we are a made-to-order shoe company, we only offer returns if the shoes or boots you receive have manufacturing defects, are not what you ordered, or you received incorrect sizing advice from our team. You can read more about our returns and exchange policy here
